Of all the wars of comparable length and severity in the past European conflicts, the damage to British commerce in Napoleonic wars stands out. Since the direct trading routes to the Baltic were blocked, on account of Napoleon’s Continental System, British trade to Northern Europe came to a standstill. However, the trade was resumed in […]Continue Reading
Early common brewers and their legacy Considered as either the father of one of the great early brewers of Burton ale or perhaps himself as one, Benjamin Wilson was a man of honor. Nonetheless, he was, indubitably, the pioneer of the most reputed family-owned firm and the staple trade of Burton. Benjamin founded a trade […]Continue Reading
Paget’s influence and town affairs The ancient records show that almost all of the trades had been lost to Burton by the mid 18th century either due to the lack of required machinery and capital or eclipsed by the competing industries elsewhere in the British Isles. It is a commonly repeated fact that the ancient monasteries, abbeys, and the other religious institutions acquired their brewhouses from the 8th century through to the 13th century imprecisely. Monks were the ones among a handful of pre-eminent groups, during these middle ages, who kept systematic records of their brewing pursuits. Historians attribute monks with […]Continue Reading
Socio-economic conditions The turn of 16th century in England started out with the expansion of exports and cities, the formidable rise of Martin Luther’s dissent, Leonardo da Vinci’s prolific sketches of the helicopter, and with the discovery of Pacific Ocean by Magellan. It is quite strange to think that those Englishmen who took pride in being part of a nation that knows how to eloquently converse, undertake actions with profound gentleness, and hideaway disgust with diplomacy, had to go to war with each other like savages. We had the opportunity to dine in Dubai’s only revolving restaurant, Al Dawaar, on a Wednesday. Located on the 25th floor (rooftop floor) of Hyatt Regency Dubai, Al Dawaar offers an international menu, live kitchen, and the unique experience of dining while the restaurant floor moves slowly so you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the city.
I’ve read about this restaurant from other Dubai bloggers a few years back and now that there’s an opportunity to sample a dinner buffet, I was excited to bring my wife here for a date night.

Restaurant Review: Al Dawaar Rooftop Revolving Restaurant in Hyatt Regency Dubai
The restaurant was closed for a few months due to the health crisis. Now that they have reopened, Al Dawaar has reintroduced its food stations while following safety guidelines.
As always, we try our best to arrive early as this allows me to take photos of the food untouched. The hostess took us to a table on the window side so my wife could sit comfortably while I go do blogging duties. ?
The interior features colonial design with white shutters and French windows, striking green velvet and rattan furniture, and wooden floor. During the day, the ambiance is bright. During the night, the restaurant exudes an intimate setting where the panoramic views of the city and its lights serve as a beautiful backdrop which makes for a memorable dinner.

Delicious Five-Star Dinner
The buffet dinner started at 7pm. There were a variety of options from tandoor, wok fry, rotisserie, steam pots and frying pans. We also had a serving of salads, sushi and sashimi, ‘catch of the day’, Arabic Mezze, smoked fish, cold cuts and seafood items.
This dinner experience comes with innovative, handcrafted cocktails, finest wines, and decadent desserts.

The revolving feature of the restaurant was something my wife and I were curious about. It was interesting to experience it ourselves and it’s something you may want to try if you’re looking for a distinctive and memorable dining affair.
You will be sitting in a moving platform and you get a different view of the city as the delicious offerings. Be advised though not to place your belongings on the side of the window as it may get left behind as your table moves.

If you’re someone who likes to have a special dining experience, this is one of those restaurants that’s worth trying. While the restaurant’s revolving feature is an interesting experience in itself, the quality of the food is also very good.

We had a relaxing staycation in Ajman Hotel by Blazon Hotels on a weekday. I booked an All-inclusive package which allowed us to enjoy the facilities of this five-star resort.
Ajman Hotel is located on the far end of Ajman Corniche and this resort features a 400-meter private beach which is the biggest private beach in the emirate. The resort is quite huge that they house over 10 restaurants and lounges and they even include a bowling center!
Arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by palm trees, golden chandeliers, and a fountain in their hotel lobby. It looked grand!

Beach Resort Staycation at Ajman Hotel by Blazon Hotels
Ajman Hotel is previously known under the Kempinski brand. Now, it is managed by Blazon Hotels. The resort is about 25 km from Dubai International Airport. Depending on traffic, the ride can take between 25 to 40 minutes during non-peak hours.
Check-in was quick and I was really happy that the manager, Eli, informed us right away that it was going to be a dry night and alcohol will not be served starting 6:30pm.
Although we could order some beverages in our room, I was actually looking forward to unwind at their beach area. Still, we had some time to drink as we checked in at 1pm.
Signature Deluxe Sea View Room
We stayed in their Signature Deluxe Sea View Room located on the 8th floor. This room features wooden furniture and an Arabic traditional design. The comfortable king-size bed has a canopy that added a dramatic effect as though you are staying in an elegant tent.
The private balcony features a view of the pool, the palm garden, and the sea. It was nice to wake up with a view of the sea from the bedroom.

The internet speed at the time when I checked registered a download speed of 17.18 Mbps so the connection was more than enough for browsing and emails.

Ajman Hotel has a number of restaurants, bars and lounges available. Though a few are currently not operating, there were enough number of establishments open for us to enjoy a meal. In fact, other guests would just drop by the hotel in order to dine in some of their award-winning restaurants. They even have a bowling center in the hotel!
Cafe Naseem – their all-day dining restaurant offering international cuisine. At the time this restaurant was closed and they operated the all-day dining in their Italian restaurant.
Bukhara – an award-winning restaurant featuring North Indian cuisine and is the one and only replica of Bukhara restaurant in New Delhi.
Sabella’s – offering authentic Italian cuisine. Currently, this restaurant operates as the all-day dining restaurant and this is where we had our breakfast, lunch, and dinner during our stay.
Zanzi Bar – located right on the beach, this was one of the highlights why I wanted to stay at Ajman Hotel. You can enjoy a drink while watching the sunset right on the beach! We ordered a few drinks and utilized our Cheers App on Entertainer in order to get a Buy One Get One offer on alcoholic drinks and even a bottle of wine. This bar also features special seafood grills and fresh catches of the day.
Lobby Lounge – you can order some sweets and light snacks as well as coffee and tea in the lobby lounge.
Cafe on First – their dedicated cafe offering light bites and a la carte menu.
Blazon Lounge – The Blazon Lounge is a place to meet friends for drinks. They also have a selection of cigars in this lounge.
Sports Bar – watch your favourite game with drinks in their sports bar.
Cosmic Bowling -a licensed 6-lane bowling alley and also features two billiard tables. They offer snacks like burgers and salads as well as drinks as you enjoy a game of bowling.

Although the pool wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, we still enjoyed our stay lounging and swimming. was enough for us to enjoy a swim and lounge at their pool bar.
In the two days of our staycation, we alternated between swimming in the beach and dipping in the pool. As the water in the former was warm and the water of the latter was cool.

Beach Area – Best Private Beach with Sunset in UAE!
The private beach is probably the main highlight why I wanted to have a staycation in this resort. From the hotel’s website, they pride themselves with having the “best private beach with sunset in the UAE”. I also read about the beach from our friends Ed & Lady when they described their beach experience during their stay in the resort.
True enough, the sunset, low tide, and expansive private beach is a much-awaited moment when you’re in this resort. The golden hour in Ajman Hotel reminds us of our happy and lazy days during our trip in Bali, Indonesia.

In case you drop by the hotel, whether for a staycation or to just dine in its restaurants, I highly recommend you wait out for the sunset at the beach as it’s truly a moment worth checking out.

Gym and Fitness Center
The gym and fitness center is located on the right wing in the 1st floor. The hotel was quite huge that we initially got lost how to get to the gym. But the helpful staff guided us and we were able to check this place out.
They have state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardio training. They also have a locker, steam and sauna available. Although at the time, the steam and sauna were closed.

I noticed that the hotel has 2 spas (one offers general treatments and one offering Ayurvedic treatments). I couldn’t confirm as I didn’t get to explore these two spas during our stay. According to sites, the 2 spas are onn the ground level and guests can book a spa treatment for some much-needed pampering. I wasn’t able to get a photo of their spa centers. Maybe next time.
Ajman hotel key card
Our overnight stay in Ajman Hotel was one one of those spur of the decisions as I was craving to go out. Given that travel outside is still not accessible, it’s better that we booked a hotel stay within the UAE.
After our staycation, I told my wife that I would like us to visit the place again even for drinks at Zanzi Bar and to enjoy the sunset at the beach.

Dubai is one of the most exciting cities in the 21st century. It’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the last 30 years, and there seem to be no signs of slowing down. The city’s labor needs are increasing to sustain this kind of growth.
At the same time, Dubai has a diverse economy with plenty of work opportunities. It has one of the strongest economies in the world. This is why a lot of people are interested in finding work in Dubai. This includes both people who have skills and those who don’t.
If you are interested in finding work in Dubai, UAE, you will need a work permit from the Ministry of Labor. Here is what you need to know to get one.
Who qualifies for a working permit?
Before you can get the work permit in UAE, you first need to get an entry visa, which lets you enter the country. You will also need an Emirate ID card as well as a residence visa. When you get a work permit, it’s added to the residence visa.
Apart from these things, any person who is at least 18 can qualify for a work permit. You must meet the standards of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Workers from abroad are divided into three categories based on their education:
People with a bachelor’s degree minimum
People with an additional diploma
People with a high school diploma
However, the essential requirement to qualify for a work permit is to offer proof of work or show a contract you have with some company in UAE. Simply put, you can’t get a work permit unless you already found a job, and you’ll need to find a translation company in Dubai to go over your paperwork, which brings us to our next point.
When looking for employment in Dubai, you will also need to have several important documents:
Passport from your home country and its copy;
A recent picture of you in an appropriate size;
Copies of all your diplomas and other academic qualifications (All qualifications need to be authorized by your country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UAE Embassy);
You will need a medical certificate received in the UAE at an approved health center;
You also need some official documents from the hiring company. This could be a company card or commercial license.
Bear in mind that you will need a translation company in Dubai to get this done. Look for a translation company in Dubai that does this to ensure there isn’t anything wrong with your documents.
Certified translation (doorstep mobile office services)
As far as Arabic translation in Dubai goes, there are several services you can find. Finding a reliable translation centre in Dubai isn’t difficult, but they are crowded all the time. If you want to get legal translation services in Dubai, you have to make sure to find companies that offer the best translation services in Dubai and schedule your meeting in advance.
However, there is an appearance of brand new mobile legal translation services. With these kinds of services, the translators come to you and get the job done on the spot. This might sound like something unimaginable, but this shows you how many people are looking to find a job here, especially when it comes to Arabic translation in Dubai.
Simply put, you don’t have to go to a legal translation office in Dubai. Book your meeting, and they will come to you. Consider getting dubbing, transcription, and subtitling services to present yourself in the best way possible to the new company.
Anyone who wants to get a residence permit in Dubai needs a valid health certificate, and an Arabic version done by a translation company in Dubai. To get one, you will need to do a medical test at a government-approved health institution like a clinic or a hospital. You can’t do the test while outside of the UAE. Only the medical tests done within the UAE are accepted.
This medical test is relatively simple and doesn’t last a long time. It involves a blood test focused on checking diseases like tuberculosis, hepatitis, leprosy, and HIV. You will also go through a chest X-ray. To get approved with a medical certificate, you need to pass all of the tests with negative results.
In case any one of them is positive, you will be denied access to the country and deported. At the same time, there is no way that you can appeal to this decision.
The main requirements for a work visa in Dubai are:
A standard passport photo with a white background;
Your current passport copy (the passport needs to be valid in the next six months at least);
Copies of education documents that you previously attested in your country.
However, you should know that not all of the requirements are disclosed. Even if you’ve worked with a reputable translation centre in Dubai and have all the documents, the UAE government has the freedom to reject anyone they want for whatever reason without revealing the details. At the same time, their regulations and requirements change very often.
Many people are trying to get into the country for work, and the government needs to adjust. Make sure to check the official GDRFA site for Dubai to see if there are any changes or new requirements, and check with a legal translation office in Dubai to ensure that everything is in perfect order.
The fees that come with work permits are:
AED 200 when requesting a work permit.
When approved for the work permit, you will have to pay:
AED 300 for first category
AED 600 for level A category 2
AED 1,500 for level B category 2
AED 2,000 for level C category 2
AED 5,000 for category 3
All workers over 65 pay AED 5,000 no matter the category.
Luckily, in most cases, the company that you are going to work for will cover all the fees associated with the work permits. At the same time, to get the best legal translation services in Dubai, you will have to pay a bit more.
Moving to work in Dubai is a great thing. There are many opportunities in this beautiful city. However, you need to prepare yourself for the process that awaits you, from finding the right documents to looking for the best translation services in Dubai. Still, when all is done, you will quickly realize that it’s all worth it. We hope this post has helped you understand the process a little better.

The Mango Shrimp Avocado was also a great and refreshing starter.

For desserts, we wanted to order a few pastries, however, these were not available at the time. They did manage to offer us some scoops of vanilla ice cream and paired it with our choce of coffee from Caribou coffee.

My wife and I spent a lovely staycation at Amwaj Rotana Hotel in JBR. This was our first time to have a staycation within this area and it’s about time since we’ve been in the UAE for quite a few years now.
Amwaj Rotana is a five-star luxury hotel located by the beach on JBR’s The Walk and The Beach. Popular attractions nearby include the Jumeirah Beach, Bluewaters Island (home of Ain Dubai – the world’s largest Ferris Wheel), Dubai Marina, etc.
There are many fun and leisure activities you can do if you stay within this area. You can try many watersport activities on the beach, stroll and do some shopping at The Walk, or dine in various affordable and fine and dining restaurants in JBR and Dubai Marina. It’s quite a great place especially for tourists looking for a beach and city life.

Amwaj Rotana Staycation Experience at The Walk at JBR
Checkin was quite fast. We asked if they could give us a room with a nice view (depending on availability) to which we were fortunate enough to have been granted.
It’s also been quite a while since we last had a mini vacation due to the health crisis. But I’m glad that Dubai has opened its doors for tourists and people are starting to adapt to the new normal in terms of travelling within the city.

Premium Seaview Room
The room that we checked in was a Premium Seaview Room, a spacious 42 square-meter room with a balcony that offered panoramic views of Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf. There’s a very comfortable king-size bed, flat-screen Smart TV, complimentary tea and coffee facilities, a lounge area, and work desk. I liked that there’s wooden flooring as we entered the room before reaching the carpeted bed and lounge area.
Another thing worth noting is that the room smelled clean and fresh whenever we enter. It just felt good that after a dip in the pool or a stroll at the beach area, we would always go back to a fresh and clean room.

WiFi Internet Speed
Logging in to the WiFi network is FREE and we did not need to sign in as a guest. We just needed to connect to their network. The download speed in our room was about 7.84 Mbps which is sufficient for browsing, social media, and emails.
There’s also WiFi in other areas of the hotel although in the pool area, it wasn’t as fast.

One of the best things during our stay was the view of Bluewaters Island and Ain Dubai, the largest Ferris Wheel in the world. Basically, we requested if there’s a room with a view and the staff gladly arranged it for us since it was available.
It doesn’t hurt to ask nicely and if it’s available too. Thanks Amwaj Rotana!

Amwaj Rotana has over 7 restaurants available:
JB’s Gastropub – British/American pub offering a place to watch live sports and enjoy food and drinks.
Benihana – a fine dining Japanese restaurant that offers an American twist.
Rosso – a bar and restaurant offering authentic Italian cuisine. This is where we dined for our breakfast.
Fumo Lounge – the hotel’s shisha lounge area
Horizon – the all-day dining restaurant of the hotel offering international cuisine.
Atrium Lobby Lounge – lobby lounge where you can order light snacks, sweets, and hot and cold beverages.
Sundeck Pool Bar – the hotel’s pool bar
24-Hours in Room Dining – the hotel also has a 24-hour room service available.
During our stay, we only dined at Rosso for breakfast as we opted to take a stroll outside and have dinner in another restaurant nearby. The hotel has plenty of dining options, even more so when you head out and explore the area. You can find cheap eats to fancy foodie experiences.

The pool of the hotel is located on the 3rd floor but you need to go to the back hallway and a flight of stairs which can be inconvenient if your are climbing the stairs. As a tip, it’s much faster and more convenient if you head to the to the 2nd floor (restaurants floor) and access the pool from there.
I did wish we were informed ahead that we should bring our room towel when we got to the pool.

Probably one of the best things about Amwaj Rotana is its location. It is very accessible to The Walk and The Beach at JBR. You can easily head over to various shops and recreational activities or simply just stroll around the public beach area.
After checking out, they allowed us to use the pool facility which made it feel like our overnight staycation extended for another day.

We had a delightful Italian feast on a Friday evening at Pergolas in Swissotel Al Murooj in Downtown Dubai. We’ve already dined in this restaurant a couple of times during their Thursday Seafood night and Iftar buffet so this Italian night was something new for us to try.
Located at the lobby level, Pergolas is the all-day dining restaurant of the five-star hotel. They serve a wide array of international dishes and feature many buffet stations. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area (great to sit during winter season) that overlooks the hotel resort.

As always, we try to arrive early so I could take pictures of the buffet spread prior to other guests arriving. It’s much easier to get nicer photos with food stations left untouched.
The buffet has a variety of Italian food selection with stations offering Italian favourites like antipasti, cheese and charcuterie, bruschettas, pizza and pasta stations, bread station, live cooking and grilling stations, and a dessert bar.
The food that really stood out include the garlic bread, risotto, lasagna, fried calamari, freshly-served pasta, grilled steak, and cheese choices. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cannoli and tiramisu.

Shake Shack opens its 9th branch in Dubai at the City Centre Deira food court level 1. Been a fan of this New York-based burger joint especially their combination of burgers and shakes. It’s good to know that they’ve set up another branch located near the historical side of Dubai.

Shake Shack Celebrates Deira With A New Store & Vibrant Artwork
Shake Shack®, the New York-styled modern day “roadside” burger stand, has opened its newest restaurant at City Centre Deira, marking it the eighth Shack in Dubai.
Historically, the commercial center of Dubai, Deira today is a place with a vibrant art and heritage scene for locals and visitors to enjoy. Celebrating Deira’s charm as well as the gradual re-opening of the city’s food and beverage industry, Shake Shack’s eighth Dubai Shack within City Centre Deira is home to a specially commissioned work of art.
artwork by Melvin San Miguel
Created by Melvin San Miguel, one of Dubai’s favorite homegrown creatives and lead artist at Art Painting Lab, the artwork illustrates this historical neighborhood with an “explorational holiday feel” capturing many aspects of Deira, most notably its famous clock tower that has been a local landmark since 1963. Guests can appreciate the nostalgic details of Melvin’s art at the newest Shack while enjoying a juicy burger.
With the new opening, Shake Shack had to take into consideration factors such as new consumer behavior, strict health and safety regulations and social distancing measures, to name a few. These new trends have enticed Shake Shack to re-imagine and adapt its guest journey and menu offerings, while staying on course with its expansion plans for the MENA region.
The newly opened Shack strictly implements in-store measures like wellness checks, regular surface sanitization, controlled seating capacity, social distancing measures, usage of masks and gloves, offering cashless payment methods and digital menus, among other procedures to ensure customers’ safety while they enjoy the Shack goodness.
Shack fans can indulge in the 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers among other premium quality menu items at City Centre Deira (food court – level 1) from 10AM – 12AM.

Radisson Blu Deira Creek’s Fish Market restaurant is the flagship restaurant of the five-star hotel which celebrates the culture of the old days given that the Dubai Creek started as a fishing village and fishing was a main source of livelihood.
We were able to dine in this restaurant and sample its foodie experience where you grab a basket, choose from the fresh catches of the day from their seafood display, and have your catch cooked according to your preference and liking. It’s a cool experience that this luxury hotel is able to master as they’ve been serving guests for over 30 years.

Unlimited Seafood at Fish Market Restaurant Deira Creek
We are no stranger to the food experiences offered by Radisson Blu Deira Creek as we have dined in their other restaurants in the past (Sumibiya, Minato, Aseelah), so when the opportunity arose to eat at their signature seafood restaurant, we gladly welcomed the invitation.
The atmosphere at the Fish Market is quite relaxed, and I later realized that the restaurant has been revamped from what was previously wooden Thai decor to now a modern and stylish interior. The colors of the sea, the wooden floor and fish baskets all inspired from the fishing village history of Dubai.

Overwhelmed by the seafood on the display area and the variety of ways to cook each dish, we asked the staff, Manilhyn, to prepare us with her recommendations. We were so satisfied with the seafood feast served on our table.
Fish Market is known for the quality of its fresh produce, its stylish decor, and the view of the Dubai Creek. It’s fitting to watch the beautiful view of the Dubai Creek while sampling fresh produce from this restaurant.

As restaurants in Dubai are adjusting to the new norms of dining, a number of establishments are also finding creative ways to adhere to the strict laws when it comes to the handling of food to their customers. Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek’s Fish Market has dedicated staff to assist in choosing the catches you wish to have for your meal.
Tables are limited given that social distance should be maintained so it’s best to make a reservation to reserve a table beforehand.

We had an extremely wonderful time driving and enjoying the beautiful view especially since this is a famous spot for sand adventures in the UAE.
While our first sand buggy experience occurred during the morning, and the second time was at night, this third time it was during the afternoon and was prepared by Explorer Tours UAE. Seeing the red sand dunes while driving over slopes of sand was an exhilarating escapade!
Explorers Team preparing our ride
Desert Fox Sand Rails Adventure at Fossil Rock in Mleiha Desert, Sharjah
This desert adventure package already comes with pick up from your hotel accommodation. In our case, we drove to the starting point which is about an hour’s drive from our place.
We had a safety briefing upon our arrival and they provided us with helmets and goggles. An experienced convoy leader advised us to always follow him, and there’s a back-up team in a 4×4 to accompany us in case we may get stuck in the sand.
starting our desert adventure
driving over valleys
enjoying the view
Driving the Desert Fox buggy was different as I felt really secure in them. The tires were huge and the seat and exterior of the buggy were sturdy. Even my wife mentioned that this was her first time where she didn’t feel too scared because the buggies were really equipped for heavy-duty bashing.
After the first slope, we were already pumped-up to take the next few ones. It was an adrenaline-filled sandy afternoon driving over amazingly red desert dunes!
loving the desert sand and the view
Heading to Fossil Rock
One thing I noticed after booking a few desert safari trips is that you have to go beyond the city, let’s say desert spots that are an hour away from Dubai, as the sand is redder and there are lesser plants. In fact, this desert is actually located in the emirate of Sharjah already.
You feel more isolated from the city because there are no people around. Just a few camels along the way! ?
a quick stopover
took a few more pictures during this break
We felt very secured since we had one guide driving the same buggy to guide us on the slopes and another guide to assist us in case we got stuck in the desert.
This buggy experience package will take about 3 hours – 2 hours include the transport to and from your hotel and 1 hour for the actual safari. After 30 minutes, we took a quick break while we hydrated with refreshments which the tour company provided. We also enjoyed the view and took pictures during the break.
watch out for camels along the way (you MUST give way to them too!)
After the break, we continued with our dune buggy experience. I am really glad with the service that the team provided. They were very professional and they gauged our driving skills as well as level of enjoyment. Whenever we screamed in excitement because of one slope, our guide would take us back to the same spot. We had a lot of fun in this adventure.
helmets – safety first!
desert safari – dune buggy style
If you are an adrenaline-junkie, looking for some outdoor activities in Dubai, I recommend you check out a dune buggy safari trip. It’s really different when you’re on the wheel driving on the sand.
Video: Dubai Desert Sand Buggy Safari
Below is a quick video which summarizes our experience:
As you smash through the dunes and race along the valleys, you’ll notice that the Desert Fox is also safer than most ATVs currently out in the market, coming equipped with a full roll cage, bucket seats, safety harnesses, and state-of-the-art shock absorbers. Get set to defy our 10km track, complete with its own challenges and hazards. Don’t sweat the technicalities! We’ve got a team on-hand in case of mechanical problems, and we also provide refreshments.

What makes the UAE an ideal destination for car enthusiasts is that not only is it ranked highly for its quality of roads, but it also provides unmatched driving experiences with a variety of scenic and thrilling routes.
Transportation in the UAE is also quite convenient as there’s an efficient system put in place. What’s more, a recent study revealed that Dubai is the second best city in the world for driving. The roads are well-paved for drivers and you can enjoy smooth driving as you go for road trips in and around the emirate.
Roads in UAE, Image: Supplied
Coast the Road with these Interesting Road Trips from Dubai
The experts at CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace to buy certified used cars in UAE, have compiled a list of some of the best routes for those who love to drive.
1. Dubai to Jebel Hafeet
Situated on the outskirts of Al Ain around 120 km from Dubai, Jebel Hafeet is the second highest mountain in the UAE. Jebel Hafeet is also renowned for its road, which is ranked highly among the best driving roads in the world. You will come across 21 turns while climbing it. Some of them are really tight bends, which means that it can be challenging at times. But it’s sure to be one of the most exciting driving experiences you can have in the UAE. The impressive view from Jebel Hafeet’s top is another reason to consider this route.
2. Dubai to Wadi Wurrayah
This route is ideal for those who are new to off-road driving and want to start with something for beginners. Some of the roads you will encounter on this route from Dubai include the Nad Al Hammar road, Maliha Road, Sharjah-Kalba road as well as a highway in Khor Kalba. Wadi Wurrayah is known for its unique landscape that includes many canyon walls and even waterfalls. It goes without saying that you will need an all-wheel drive vehicle for this one. The trail you will be covering there stretches just 3 km and shouldn’t be too challenging as long as you have a powerful vehicle.

3. Dubai to Kalba
Your drive to Kalba, which is on the east coast, will first take you from Dubai-Al Ain road to the Dubai-Hatta highway. After you’ve crossed the Hatta roundabout and covered around 110 km, you will reach one of the most thrilling stretches of your route – a twisty road on mountainous terrain. The bends on this road are exciting as well as challenging. This leg of the journey, which is approximately 10 km, will take you to the Sharjah-Kalba road. Going through the Hajar Mountains, this route will also take you through the Gulf’s longest tunnel. You would have covered around 330 km when you reach Kalba.
4. Dubai to Rafaq Village
It’s one of the most scenic driving routes in the UAE. During the first leg of this route you’ll drive on Al Awir Road with dunes on both sides and around the base of a mountain in Jebel Rawdah. This route will present you with many amazing views of the mountains in this area. The roads to Rafaq Village, which is a mountain settlement, stretch around 180 km. You will also be able to see the Omani border during this road trip.
5. Dubai to Shawka region (Ras Al Khaimah)
After taking the exit to Hatta from Dubai-Al Ain road, you will get on the Dubai Bypass road and then the Maliha road. After driving for around 50 km on this road you will be able to spot the Shawka exit. A few more kilometers and a drive up a dirt road will take you to a clearing. You can camp there and begin exploring multiple off-road trails. From rock formations to wadis, there’s a lot you can explore in this area. Make sure you have a reliable and powerful all-wheel drive vehicle for this trip.
Here are some additional tips:
If you want to avoid traffic and tourists, consider going on a weekday instead of the weekend.
Keep in mind that just experiencing these routes once isn’t enough. You will notice something new every time you drive on these roads and you may also have a better driving experience once you know all the bends of a route.
Some of these routes also provide you with a great opportunity to test your car’s abilities.
While enjoying your drives, don’t drive recklessly. Be sure to consider the safety of other drivers as well as cyclists and pedestrians on the road.
Nobody wants their vehicle to breakdown during their road trip. To avoid such situations, invest in reliable new or used cars in UAE, and make sure it is suitable for the route. For example, if you are considering an off-road trail, then you would need an all-wheel drive vehicle with good off-roading abilities.
Just pick a route and have a thrilling driving experience in the UAE!

We experienced an awesome 4-hour private cruise on a 50-foot luxury yacht while touring around the JBR coastline, Atlantis The Palm, and Burj Al Arab.
It’s a great time to be outdoors especially when the summer season has ended. One of the more enjoyable ways to experience the great weather is renting a yacht and going on a cruise, the Dubai way.

Dubai Luxury Private Yacht Cruise Experience
We drove from Sharjah to Dubai Marina on a weekday and met with the Cozmo Yachts. The team of Captain Arvind, Sundar, and Akbar assisted us during this trip.
My wife and I got a quick tour inside a luxury yacht before, but this is our first time to actually have a private yacht cruise. We were with our friends and we were excited to finally do this after years in the emirate. ?
Inside the Yacht
While they were still preparing the boat, I quickly had a look to see what we could expect inside.
The 50-foot yacht is able to accommodate a capacity of 16 guests. It comes with 2 bedrooms and 2 restrooms, a kitchenette, a lounge, top deck and sundeck. It’s very spacious.
it has 2 bedrooms
We started our cruise and from then, we went up the top deck in order to see the view outside. The boat team asked us to connect our phone to their sound system (BOSE speakers) so that we could play music from our playlist. I’m glad one of our companions had a full set of songs on her phone.
The staff proactively asking us about it was a nice touch as we really didn’t think about preparing music. But it made a lot of difference in setting the mood to this luxury yacht cruise.

Dubai Marina – JBR Coastline – Atlantis the Palm – Burj Al Arab
Our first stop was the Atlantis, The Palm in Palm Jumeirah Island. The next stop was the Burj Al Arab. These are two famous Dubai attractions and it was great to see it from the water side. We also coasted along the JBR skyline and got a closer glimpse of Ain Dubai (the largest Ferris wheel in the world).

Live BBQ Grill
Prior to heading back, we had a quick dip in the water while the staff prepared a live BBQ grill. For what better way to enjoy the salty waters than with a good barbecue afterwards? ?
We did a couple more swims afterwards then we headed back to Dubai Marina. We spent the remaining time enjoying the view while resting on the sundeck area.
Live BBQ on a Yacht
we were hungry after the swim
Renting a yacht is one of the ultimate and grand activities you can do in Dubai. I’m really glad that we took a dip in the water in between cruising. I tell you that during that evening, we slept so well because we were so tired and satisfied from the activity.

Tips When Renting a Yacht in Dubai
Here are some tips when you plan to charter a yacht in Dubai. This is based on our experience in this 4-hour cruise.
Bring sunblock and enjoy the Dubai sun (especially during winter season)
Bring snacks and drinks. The yacht is not authorized to provide alcohol as per UAE laws. You have to bring your own (make sure you secure a license too).
Get ready with your music party playlist – this can really make a difference especially when you want to listen to music as you cruise along the waters.

While the UAE is still advising everyone not to go out unless for necessity, hotels and resorts have started accepting guests but with certain limitations. In a recent announcement from the emirate of Ajman, the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD), has announced a list of guidelines that hotel and resort establishments should abide as part of the precautionary measures against the pandemic.
The set of rules also aims to ensure the highest safety measures to protect guests, visitors and hospitality workers in Ajman.

Renowned for its heritage sites, captivating natural reserves and rich culture, Ajman is preparing to reopen key tourist destinations in the upcoming months.
Below are the main guidelines and policies:
Not more than 30% of the capacity of other facilities in the hotel including restaurants, bars and cafes.
Guests will have mandatory temperature checkups for every person enters the hotel,
Hotels to allocate different doors for entry and exit,
Place visible floor marks for social distancing with a minimum of 2 meters between visitors on queue areas such as reception & concierge,
Place hand sanitizers & disinfectants at the entrance and other open facilities.
Protection equipment such as masks and gloves need to be available in enough quantity for guests and employees.
All hotels must allocate isolation rooms at all times that need to be disinfected after every use and have to disinfect and sanitize the premises on a weekly schedule to be shared with ATDD supervisors.
Hotels must train their staff on how to deal with different situations such as cases being found or people having similar symptoms and escorting them to the isolation rooms until conducting proper tests.
Hotels also have to maintain records for cleaning and disinfecting operations for 3 months.
Reusable items are forbidden such as leaflets, magazines, newspapers, cups … etc.
Salons to accept guests based on appointment bookings only.

One of the top outdoor activities that you can do in Dubai is flying over the desert on hot air balloon. This activity is manned by a highly practiced company called Balloon Adventures Emirates which is also a trusted provider when it comes to hot air balloon operations in the world. We were able to take part in this activity one winter morning.
Tourists not only enjoy the breathtaking view of the desert but they also get a new perspective of the region’s surroundings and heritage. The experience of flying in a hot air balloon is a great activity especially for the adventurous ones.

Hot Air Balloon Ride by Balloon Adventures Emirates
Our experience during this Dubai adventure started at IKEA around 5:30am. It was an early meeting pick-up point at Festival City since we needed to be there before the sunrise. About a 45-minute drive, we arrived at the desert and we could see the staff already starting to fill the balloon with air.
don’t get too close as this is hot
Safety an Important AspectPrior to the ride, we were given instructions (strict rules) on what we could bring and leave behind. Handbags, wallets and other items were left inside the van as we needed to have less items as possible. Even the camera I brought, I was only allowed to bring one lens (the one that came with the camera), I had to leave my zoom lens behind.
Safety has been an important aspect in this adventure because about 20 people will be inside the basket and you will be flying in an open air where you cannot really predict the weather. The first time we tried this adventure, we were already in the desert but they had to cancel it due to the strong winds. We were unable to fly that time.
This time was different because were finally able to ride on a hot air balloon and witness the beautiful sunrise. Waking up to see the sun over the desert was worth it.

Cost of the Hot Air Balloon Ride in DubaiThe daily operation of Balloon Adventures Emirates provides convenient rides for local and foreign tourists. For AED 1350 for adults, you can enjoy the entire adventure with the whole family. If you want to witness the sunrise from up above, you can choose the “hot air balloon ride with breakfast” package. This is good for a half-day, morning ride with tasty breakfast for each person.

What to Expect During the AdventureOne balloon basket (the largest) could accommodate up to 24 persons. If you book for the sunrise package, you will get to see the magical view of the mountains between Dubai and Oman. And as you float, the dunes tend to appear like liquid sand while the sunrise gradually lightens up the entire desert. Amazing isn’t it? You will also see the famous Sheikh’s property surrounded by a notable man-made lake. However balloon flights are not always smooth. Sometimes, you will experience what they call sporty landing. But that what actually makes the entire trip more fun and exciting!
Hot Air Balloon
With the increasing popularity of hot air balloon adventures across the globe, Dubai remains one of the best places to visit for those who want to experience such leisure. So buckle up for an amazing ride of your life!
In addition, the company has now partnered with skilled falcon trainers in order to effectively provide the best experience to every guest. These glorious birds will fly with you as you delight in the wonderful vista beneath you.

Falconry and Breakfast Added to the Hot Air Balloon ExperienceI recently called the Balloon Adventures Emirates and they mentioned that they’ve added new attractions on top of the hot air balloon. Previously, we only had refreshments after the ride, but this time they’ve added a falconry exhibition where you can watch falcons flying around the area. These amazing birds gently float over the immaculate hills of sand while exploring throughout Hajar Mountains. There’s also a breakfast feature included in the new package. So you can enjoy a good meal on the desert.
For other exciting adventures, you can also try the 1950s land rover that you can drive in the desert. It’s another experience that many tourists now enjoy in Dubai. So if you’re looking for some relaxation during the holidays, there’s no reason not to try hot air balloon rides and other spectacular activities offered in the area.
